This is me!
I'm Lara (nOT lAURA!)
A Cotswolds wedding photographer from Burford, Oxfordshire
Having hit the milestone 4-0 a few years ago I now - more than ever - understand the importance of being authentically me.
No chasing trends, no trying to fit in or be the 'photographer for all' and absolutely no A.I, purchased editing presets or outsourcing.
What I am is authentic, honest and wholeheartedly invested in ensuring I deliver beautiful, story-telling photography that showcases your day exactly as it unfolds.
I hated my wedding photos - we didn't gel with our photographer at all.
I never, ever want a couple to have this experience which is why I work tirelessly to provide the best possible memories I can.
about me

I'm Canadian born. Brought up in the Scottish Highlands and now settled in the Cotswolds...the most landlocked part of the country!
I love being by water, countryside walks and roaring pub fires.
Dogs and horses are my obsession... They're the best!
I'm left handed, love Lindt chocolate and have a love of bees and dahlias!
Before children, I served over ten years as a police officer. I LOVED this job. I learnt so much and am so proud of what I achieved. Some horrific situations ...but some heartwarming jobs too and it has made me the person I am today. I've even been on the BBC and if you ask nicely I may show you the hilarious clip! There is no job like it and it is probably why I love the adrenaline and unpredictability of a wedding. It is also why I have the ability to 'read a room', deal with the unexpected and cope with whatever is thrown at me...quite literally!

Lara did such an amazing job. The photos she took were gorgeous, she captured the day perfectly. She made us feel so relaxed and was great with all our guests. We would highly recommend her to anyone and we are so glad we picked her for our wedding!

My Approach
It is not possible to capture your wedding day 100% naturally....
...controversial but true.
Any photographer that says they CAN will capture brilliant, atmospheric photographs of your wedding day - BUT - they will likely not be the photographs you want to display centre stage above your fireplace (even if Uncle Barry did look cool with a tie around his head!)
I liken it to trying to make an award winning, Michelin star meal without any idea of the ingredients or instructions.
You will need direction.
You will need support.
You will need time.
And ultimately you will want time to capture your perfect couples photographs.
Whilst most of my coverage is documentary and candid, I understand the importance of keeping the likes of Aunt Edna happy - they want that special photograph with you both....and it's important to them...and you.
I oversee the traditional group photographs quickly, allowing me more time with you. When the time is right we go for a walk and get those 'couples photographs'. No uncomfortable poses, just authentically you...with my guidance. Lots of movement and allowing the both of you to enjoy the moment. Ultimately we have fun... I promise.
How do I know how to balance the unposed and traditional?
With twelve years of experience and hundreds of weddings captured, I have learned how to blend natural, candid moments with timeless, traditional imagery. It is a very delicate balance but I believe I have nailed it!
