EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW  BUT DON'T WANT TO ASK...

Choosing your wedding photographer is much more than just loving the images...   It's about trust, communication and feeling completely at ease... and if you don't, keep searching.

Asking questions ( and no questions is a silly question) ensures you feel comfortable and confident, knowing that you have picked the right photographer for you.

I have listed below some FAQs for questions I have been asked over the years...ones that are important but also ones that are a non-negotiable for your day.

FAQ's

are you available for weddings in the cotswolds?

Absolutely!  I'm based near Burford and photograph weddings across the Cotswolds , including Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and the surrounding villages. I regularly work at popular Cotswold venues and know their land, light and hidden portrait spots well.  I do also venture further afield so please just ask!

how do you handle family photos on the wedding day?

While most of the day is captured candidly, I always include a set of well organised family group photos if you'd like them.

I advise up to 10 is a manageable amount and I ask for a list of required photos prior to your day so I can ensure nothing gets missed and everyone remains happy!

how do we secure our date?

I always pencil in a date for 7 days when I receive an enquiry.  However, to secure your date, I require a signed contract and booking  fee (fully transferable) of £350.  Once that's in place , your date is fully reserved.  Because I know booking wedding suppliers can be exhausting, overwhelming and everything in between this is why I pencil in your date. However, if you decide I'm not right for you please do let me know so I can release the date.

what is your photography style and approach?

My style is natural, relaxed and documentary led...and discreet.  I focus on real moments, genuine emotion and beautiful storytelling, with gentle guidance during portraits to help you feel comfortable.

Whilst I like to 'float' in the background and capture the fleeting moments of your day, I balance this with ensuring we take the time to capture your couples portraits.  Around 10 minutes two to three times throughout the day.

Do you offer guidance during portraits? i hate being photographed.

Absolutely — I give simple, natural direction so you never feel awkward. My aim is to help you feel at ease so your portraits look effortless and authentic.

I promise there will be no awkward poses and very little staring directly at the camera.  Want you relaxed, happy and enjoying the moment.

I'm there to make sure there's no slouchy shoulders or bunched up outfits.

I keep things simple, natural, and fun. Most couples tell me they forget the camera is even there.

Can we customise a package?

Yes — I’m happy to tailor a package to suit your timings, plans, and priorities.

I also offer second shooters, recommended videographers and content creators if you require these.

How do you handle low light or bad weather situations?

We live in Britain.  Whilst the Cotswolds are beautiful, the weather is unpredictable at best.

I use professional equipment that which assists me in low light, bright sunlight, and everything in between.

I'm well versed in shooting weddings in all weather conditions and no each wedding throws different challenges.

Don't be afraid of rain.. or wind...We embrace the weather and believe me it can make for some beautiful photographs.  (As a photographer we love clouds - they serve as a massive diffuser!)

How many hours of coverage do we need?

Most couples choose full day coverage, from morning preparations through to the first dance.  Usually around 3 hours before your Ceremony to after your first dance.

Shorter coverage is available for intimate weddings and elopements.

What happens if you’re ill on the day?

I have a trusted network of professional photographers who can step in if needed. Your wedding will always be covered.

How many photos will we receive?

For a full day wedding, you can expect 500–800 fully edited images, depending on the length and style of your day.

The amount really does vary wedding to wedding depending on many factors....amount of guests, weather, opportunity....

How long does it take to get our photos?

Your full gallery is delivered within 5 weeks.  I aim to send a few photos within the first week....these are a random selection for you so you have something to tide you over until the full album delivery.

Do you offer albums or prints?

Yes — I offer handcrafted fine art albums and professional prints that showcase your images beautifully.  These can be purchased through me of my print shop.

If you would like an album, we do this together and take the time to get it just right.

Do you offer engagement or pre wedding shoots?

Yes absolutely!  You can add an engagement shoots to your booking.  These are not a must, but if you are nervous about being photographed I would definitely advise it.  They are a great and fun way to get to know each other.

I will pose you so you get a feel of what you like and what you don't - what feels comfortable and what doesn't - so that on your wedding day we know how to get the best out of you whilst keeping you relaxed.

Some couples like to print one of their images from the shoot to have a as a signing photo on their wedding day.

Can we customise a package?

Yes — I’m happy to tailor a package to suit your timings, plans, and priorities.

I also offer second shooters, recommended videographers and content creators if you require these.

Have you worked at our venue before?

If your venue is in the Cotswolds then the chances are that I have.

However, if you have found a venue I haven't worked at then I would always visit a venue beforehand so I can scout out locations for photographs , see the light and plan the wet weather scenario.

I love working at new venues - it's exciting for me too!

How many hours of coverage do we need?

Most couples choose full day coverage, from morning preparations through to the first dance.  Usually around 3 hours before your Ceremony to after your first dance.

Testimonials

We can't even begin to express our gratitude to Lara for the beautiful photos she took of our wedding.  Despite our day containing every variation of weather possible, Lara capturing the most gorgeous pictures, both styled and candid shots that we will treasure forever.

Lara was such a  joy to work with - her upbeat and cheerful personality can't help but make you smile, and her photographs beautifully captured the atmosphere of the day.  She was also very mindful about when she asked us to step away for photos , so we could stay fully immersed in enjoying the celebrations.  Thank you Lara, for everything!

We had an amazing day and would strongly recommend Lara for any special events.

Lara made us feel at ease the whole build up, which was a task in itself considering we swapped a calm Cotswolds to a hectic London location.  On the day, very organised, very chilled , somehow managed to keep two kids under 6 in control and get some incredible and truly wonderful photos.

We received our photos a few weeks after the day and cannot stop looking at them, we're so impressed, and so glad we visited the wedding fair that day.

Thank you so much Lara!

We had the absolute pleasure of meeting Lara at our first wedding fare at The Bay Tree.   We immediately clicked with Lara and felt at ease around her.  Lara adapted to our disgracefully early start and was on the ball from start to finish. Everything was our choice and we never felt the "urgh more photos" part.

Lara fitted right in with our wedding crowd - we had such a laugh working with you and you were a pleasure to have as part of our day.

Our photos are absolutely incredible, they're beautifully taken and we can spend hours looking through them.  Thank you for capturing the most incredible day of our lives so far.

Lara did a fantastic job keeping us at ease.  We are definitely not people who like being the centre of attention but she made us feel so relaxed whilst having photos.  She took lots of lovely natural photos and we received them really quickly after the wedding at a high standard.  We were recommended Lara through the Manor House Hotel, and she did not disappoint!  She knew the venue well and all the best spots for photos.  Would definitely recommend :)

Lara photographed our wedding in March 2026 and was incredible.  I couldn't recommend her more.  My husband and I aren't the most natural in front of the camera so we were a bit nervous for the photos but she put us at instant ease.  We also had our 2 year old son and 3 year old labrador with us so it was quite chaotic at times, however Lara was professional and patient throughout the whole day.  Photos are incredible and we can't wait to get the printed.

Thank you so much for all your help and stunning photos of our wedding day!  They are amazing and we are so grateful for your patience and calmness on the day.  Even when it felt like herding cats at some points!

Wishing you all the best in the future.
